In this beautifully presented book, the true story about the horse Garryowen and his death in a fire are presented in detail. Marion's meticulous research records the historical events in easy to follow prose accompanied by numerous photographs, documents and newspaper articles.

The work commences in 1904, covers the life of Violet Murrell, Garryowens owner, and describes how she sacrificed her life trying to save her well-loved horse from a stable fire.

The Garryowen  Trophy Equestienne event commenced in 1934 to perpetuate their memory. It has been held each year at the Royal Melbourne Show.
Part 4 contains personal letters sent to Marion by every winning competitor from 1974 to 2000 and makes for interesting reading. It also lists all placegetters for this period and all winners from 1934 to 2000.
